It's the Real You I Love

A letter: Dear sweet high school girl trying out for __________,  (insert your team name here) I wanted to let you know that God really doesn't care if you make said team.  Yes, He gave you the ability to throw a layout full; pull a firebird right after you've done 8 turns in second; have the largest range in the choir; be able to debate the questions until your blue in the face; kick and catch any ball,  but that's not what He cares about.  He doesn't love you more because you've made those teams.  He loves you. Period.  Every little flaw you think you have, He created, and in reality it's not a flaw, only you just think it is.  He thinks you're beautiful and wonderful and His. Have you ever noticed when people make or do something great they always praise God's name and quote scripture?  Have you ever heard anyone praise Him when they didn't get something they've trained years for?  When you've been rejected and told you're no...

2nd Verse Same as the First

Let me start by saying that I am a rule follower, at least most of the time.  But there are days I just forget.  I forget that: I'm not infallible; I'm not indestructible & I'm not in my 20's anymore. You might remember that a few years ago I popped my right calf muscle open.  I'm not going to lie, it hurt, badly.  A few years earlier I popped my left calf.  Well at least I ended up being even.  When I was 20 I tore my meniscus. It was a beautiful April day and waaay to pretty to be going to class.  Especially when I had a better offer.  I heard the lake calling my name.  So there are my big injuries in reverse order.  Fast forward to last week... ...I'm working out.  I love to workout, I feel so good when I'm done.  (and it allows me to eat without guilt.)  The ole' knee has been hurting for the last 8 months.  When I went to the doctor in August, he said I had bursitis.  An old person ailment. I Really LOVE Teenagers

The Before Picture... Lizzie & Hop No, really, I do, I'm not being a smarty pants here. Yes, they have drama. Yes, they can be trying at times. But I'll take a room of 15 year olds over a room of 2 year olds any day! Homecoming was this past Friday.  Both boys had precious dates...see pictures.  :)  Hopson and I had to divide and conquer.  Every time this has happened & I've had to trust him to take pictures of which ever child he is trailing I've ended up with 2 pictures and at least one was blurry and the other was off center with no one looking at the camera.  This year, I was VERY specific about what I wanted.  (he was going with Harry) I have to give him props, he took some great pictures.  He took some with Haley's mom's camera in it too, but I can crop that out.  See below, it's rather funny.  (insert eye roll here.)  Dads, what are you going to do with them? ...

My Pretty Princess Has a New Pair of Shoes

Image
Mrs. Kelly & Elizabeth Today is the day Elizabeth has been waiting on for a long time.  Miss Priss has herself a new pair of shoes.  Pointe shoes.  She has been patient yet persistant in asking for her shoes.  We met her ballet/pointe teacher, Mrs. Kelly, at the local dancewear store.  She wanted to check E's fit with her shoes.  Elizabeth tried on three different pair.  The first one was too big.  The second fit like a glove, and the third was ok, but not as great as pair number two.  Number two it is.  Don't forget the toe pads, very important.  We had to use lamb's wool, now they have gel toe pads.  I don't know how much different it all is once your foot is crammed into the box of the shoe, but lamb's wool is outdated, so yea for gel pads! We get home, and now it's my turn to get to work.  One pair of pointe shoes with elastic and ribbons sewn on, no problem.  Well, except one.  ...
